Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance holds, an immense number of artworks kept within its major museums.

It was built at the behest of Cosimo de' Medici, who turned it from administrative offices into a museum to show the collection owned by the Medici dynasty. The artworks inside are arranged chronologically to make for a clear, smooth tour. starting from 13th- and 14th-century art, we admire the Giotto's Ognissanti Madonna and works of his contemporaries Duccio di Buoninsegna and Cimabue. Next, we head to the International Gothic rooms and see Gentile da Fabriano and end in the Uffizi's true heart: the Renaissance rooms.
This is where the art that draws thousands of visitors daily is kept: Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus and the Allegory of Spring. These masterpieces embody Florence's rich culture in those years when art was flourishing, its major monuments were built, and artistic innovations were given wide breadth in the city.
