City tour itinerary
Your guide will wait for you at the meeting point to greet you and distribute headsets if needed. The tour will start once the group has gathered. The tour starts from Piazza della Repubblica. Today a busy city center, in Roman times, it was the site of a large forum, at the intersection of a cardo and the decumanus, the main roads that crossed in ancient Florence.
We will walk down Via Roma to the Piazza del Duomo to see the magnificent Duomo, or the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its Baptistery, Giotto's Bell Tower, and the enormous dome designed by Brunelleschi that will leave you speechless with wonder. Your guide will tell you in detail about the entire Duomo complex as well as the Gates of Paradise at the Baptistery, a true masterpiece by Ghiberti, the original of which is in the Opera del Duomo Museum.
Next up is Piazza della Signoria, where we can appreciate Palazzo Vecchio, the current seat of the municipality of Florence. The square draws our attention with multiple highlights, include the Neptune fountain and the group of statues in the Loggia dei Lanzi, which is truly an open-air museum.
Now to go just a few steps away! Right next to Palazzo Vecchio, you can see the Uffizi square, where the Uffizi Gallery is in the monumental building designed by Giorgio Vasari in the 16th century. A few more steps and you'll come to the Arno River by Ponte Vecchio, unquestionably one of the world's most photographed bridges. Your guided tour ends here. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and taking an umbrella with you in case it rains.
