San Gimignano Giro Città con Degustazione con Guida privata

Walking tour of San Gimignano with private guide and tasting

Tours with a private guide to discover the medieval city of San Gimignano with a tasting of Vernaccia and traditional local foods.

San Gimignano Private Tour and Tasting — Italy Travels Tours

This small Italian town in 13th-14th-century style is one of the most beautiful in the province of Siena. In its heyday, the richest families built some 72 towers to symbolize their power. The town's city skyline, unlike any other, is formed by the 14 towers still extant, which highlight its medieval charm, so much appreciated that it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Come explore this small fortified town and find all the pleasant surprises it holds. The walking tour will end on the best possible note, with a tasting of Vernaccia, a traditional local wine made in the vineyards of San Gimignano, and other Tuscan wines (4 wines in total), paired with tastings of local foods (crostini, cheeses, flavored and natural oils with bruschetta). The tasting will take place at a local wine bar about a 10-minute walk from the center of San Gimignano.
On Saturdays and Sundays, from November to March or on particular dates, this tasting will be replaced by a stop at a wine shop in the town center. The tasting will have the same features but without the vineyard tour.

Itinerary of the walking tour of San Gimignano with private guide

The first stop on our walk through the streets of San Gimignano is the Piazza del Duomo, site of the 11th-century Collegiata Church, whose appearance is a faithful reflection of how it looked in the 13th century. The Cathedral of San Gimignano, known as the Collegiata, is a true jewel hidden in the tucked into this town. Great artists like Benozzo Gozzoli worked on it. We'll find other major buildings in this square, including the Palazzo del Podestà with the Rognosa tower, the Chigi tower, the twin towers of the Salvucci family, and the Palazzo del Popolo with the Grossa tower.

We'll take the picturesque main street of Via San Matteo, abounding in historical buildings, to get to Piazza Sant'Agostino where the church of the same name stands. The church was completed in 1298 in Romanesque-Gothic style, featuring a very simple brick exterior and 15th-century decorations inside on which Benozzo worked.

After about an hour walking tour discovering the artistic beauties of this small medieval village, we will stop to enjoy a tasting of local foods and an excellent glass of wine. In a hidden gem on a small hill, with a view of all of San Gimignano, you'll enjoy a warm, inviting atmosphere to taste local foods of Tuscan's culinary tradition and savor a truly special moment!
