Booking admission to St. Peter's Basilica you can tour inside the Basilica in total freedom, listening to the explanation of the official application in English (other languages available, please see below) and taking advantage of special rapid entry.
This is the easiest way to use your own smartphone or tablet to appreciate the wonders of St. Peter's Basilica.
Download the app on your mobile device and enter the code given by the Basilica's staff to start your guided tour with audio guide after you check in.
App languages: Italian (also available in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Russian).
Availability: Every day except religious holidays.
Available times: From 8:45 am to 5:00 pm. Several time ranges may be booked. Visitors may arrive within the time ranges at the desired time.
Price: €19.50 per person
Duration: The audio tour recording lasts about 1 hour. Visitors can then stay in the Basilica until closing time without other time restrictions.
Price includes: Entrance through special lane at the metal detectors at the entrance, an explanation on the app for your mobile device in Italian (or one of the other available languages).
Price does not include: Headphones (you may use your own if you have them or buy some at the desk for €1.00 each); shuttle service to and from the hotel, any additional services not listed above.
IMPORTANT: In special cases, for those who do not have a smartphone, or if there are technical problems, visitors may be provided with a traditional audio guide. In that case, you will need to have a valid proof of identity to leave with the staff before going through the metal detectors and receiving the audio guide. Your ID will be returned to you at the exit when you return the audio guide.
You must go to the meeting point with the booking voucher that will receive by email.
REDUCTIONS
Youth: Reduced entrance for €14.50, free from 7 to 17.
Children: Free admission under 7. Free admission for clergy and disabled people.
How does it work?
Find and download the VOX CITY app from your app store on IOS or Google Play. After you've completed this online booking, you will get a voucher that will allow you admission to the Basilica from a special entrance. Once inside, the staff will give you a QRCode to activate the tour with audio guide from the downloaded app.
Meeting point: St Peters Square – Vatican City
Facing the front of the Basilica, the meeting point is under the right colonnade, in the middle by the national police barrier (see image). Reception staff wearing blue vests with the Vox Mundi logo will meet you and bring inside the Basilica through a special entrance.
