The private guided tour starts at Trajan's Market, the great shopping center built by Emperor Trajan. His goal was to change the face of Rome. The famous architect Apollodorus of Damascus was put in charge of the immense project It will be an unparalleled thrill to walk down the same corridors and cross the same passageways taken centuries ago by emperors, citizens, and illustrious Romans. Though most of the external decorations are no longer visible today, we can see remains of the major buildings inside the Museum of the Imperial Forum. The museum will be the second part of the tour.

The Imperial Forum is another major example of the wealth of Imperial Rome. Construction started under Domitian and was completed under Trajan. The Imperial Forum square was used for military camps, for managing trade funds, and it was the place of "manumission," the public act of a master freeing a slave.
