Colosseum and Roman Forum tour with private guide
A licensed guide will bring you on a 3-hour tour to learn all about Rome's most important monuments: the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.
This tour will take you inside the Colosseum — the Flavian Amphitheater — and avoid waiting in line needlessly by using your skip-the-line ticket included in the tour price. You'll learn all about events, emperors and fascinating facts that made the Colosseum so key to Roman and world history. The exterior facade is missing a substantial piece of its material. Over the years, the Colosseum was used as if it were a quarry and considerable sections were taken to build other important buildings, including the Basilica of St. Pietro and Palazzo Barberini. Just imagine: the Colosseum still astounds us today for its size, and it's missing about a third of its material. Think if it were whole!
The guided tour continues in the Roman Forum. You'll visit the archaeological area, which includes the arches of Titus and Constantine. The Roman Forum is between the Palatine Hill and the Capitoline Hill. Four basilicas once stood here and were used for administering justice and conducting business. It is all the more incredible to think that we can still see these ruins today if we consider the Barbarian invasions and the buildings' deterioration over time.
A three-hour stroll with an expert guide will give you a first-hand experience of Ancient Roman history. In this city, which human hands have been shaping since antiquity, history has always been the star, and its buildings reflect its glory and grandeur. Rome: the Eternal City!
