Castel Sant'Angelois among Rome's most evocative places. Over the centuries, Emperor Hadrian's tomb has been used as a prison, a Papal fortress, and a Renaissance palace housing the likes of Michelangelo.
The castle can be visited today as a historical monument and a museum where temporary exhibitions are held. The skip-the-line ticket includes admission to the National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo and temporary exhibitions that may take place here.
The castle on the river is one of Rome's most magical places and a favorite with tourists. Bernini's angels lined up along Ponte Sant'Angelo, which accesses the castle, makes the view all the more enchanting, the silhouette of St. Peter's Basilica rising behind it.

Admission can be booked every 30 minutes. Last admission at 6:00 pm.
Closed days: Every Monday, the first Sunday of the month (open but cannot be booked), January 1, May 1, and December 25.
Children: under 4 are free of charge, requiring no reservation.
Disabled visitors: Not recommended for those with limited mobility due to the type of architecture. Book your free ticket.

How to choose the right ticket for Castel Sant ' Angelo
REDUCED TICKETS: Reduced tickets are available for Italian and European citizens between the ages of 18 and 25 and teachers at Italian state schools with regular contracts.
FREE: Those entitled to a free ticket for entrance include:
- Children over 4 and youth under 18 of any nationality;
- Italian teachers with proper documentation issued by the educational institution (form provided by the Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research) with valid proof of identity. Italian teachers without MIUR certificate and foreign teachers pay the full-price ticket.
Note Proof of identity will be required to prove age or membership in discounted group. If proof of identity is not provided, the visitor will not be entitled to the discount and must pay a full-ticket price.
