Turin City Center Private Guided Tour - Itinerary
Discover the charm, history, and elegance of Turin with an authorized private guide.
The tour begins in Piazza Castello, the historic heart of the city. Here, your guide will explain its origins in the 14th century and the urban development led by architects such as Vitozzi, Castellamonte, and Juvarra. From the square, admire the Baroque architecture and iconic buildings including Palazzo Madama and the Royal Palace.
Learn the rich history of Palazzo Madama, from its Roman-era roots to its transformation into a ducal residence under Maria Cristina of Bourbon, with Baroque enhancements by Filippo Juvarra. Then, explore the Royal Palace, the center of Savoy power for over 300 years, with its grand façade redesigned in the 17th century.
The tour continues along Turin’s main streets, where you will see the Teatro Regio and the Church of San Lorenzo, before reaching the cathedral area, home to the Duomo di Torino and the Shroud of Turin. Your guide will explain the cathedral’s Renaissance architecture, the Baroque altar by Antonio Bertola, and the careful preservation of the Shroud.
The route concludes along the porticoes of Via Po to Piazza San Carlo, the elegant “living room” of Turin, and returns to Piazza Castello via Galleria Subalpina and Piazza Carlo Alberto.
Experience the timeless beauty of Turin and see why Giorgio de Chirico called it:
"Turin is the deepest, most enigmatic, and most haunting city, not of Italy but of the world."
